How do you plan a budget for work that runs autonomously?

Security administrators need to fund work whose consumption varies with activity. Practitioners need to keep investigating threats. The design challenge was to make spending understandable without making cost an obstacle to necessary security work.

I connected three decisions: plan expected costs, understand spending, and respond to budget risk. My scope covered onboarding and the core financial experience within the broader FinOps initiative.
